I have a Pontiac GrandPrix GT, and my question is what to do when the whole section of the gears including the cup holders gets hot more than normal... I am thinking it could be the O2 sensors or the main box of the mufflers is touching with the motor. what do you think it might be?
this is a tough one to answer without checking out the car. I would recommend taking to a trusted Ask Patty Certified dealer to correctly asses it. Based on what you told us, we would measure the catalytic converter temperature first.

This could be related to a number of issues depending on the miles (which were not referenced). Since the temperature is in question, I would have a mechanic gauge the catalytic converter temperature to get an accurate reading.
