We have 2 college students at home for the summer who need cars for their jobs. We do not want to buy but wonder what options we might have. Possible short term lease or rental? Any suggestions?
Thanks,

Dear Kim,
I don't know of a lease less that a year. Maybe make a deal with a rental company for a monthly rate. In Calif we have Ugly duck rentals and Rent a wreck and they are cheaper to rent than the standard Hertz and Avis which are at least $35.00 per day. Otherwise buy a couple cheap cars and resell them end of summer.

Very few Short Term Leases are available through dealers, however you may be able to strike a deal with a local car rental company. Check online to see where these business might be in your community. Your other option is to use one of the normal rental companies. You could also check out older used vehicles that can be bought for pennies on the dollar and then sold at the end of the summer. Because you are dealing with teenagers it might be more difficult to arrange rentals because of the insurance and some of their 21 yrs. old requirements.
