My car (a 2006 Kia)will soon have 30,000 miles on it. The dealers cost for check up far exceeds what I can afford. Exactly what is covered in the 30,000 mile check-up? can I trust auto repair shops to do proper maintenance?
You can visit your local Kia dealership are visit the Kia website where you will find FREE information posted by the manufacturer on recommended maintenance intervals. Typically, 30k miles service depends on drivability and condition of fluids. I recommend you pick a few at a time over the course of 15k miles if possible.
Good Morning Jan,
Very smart to keep up with your maintenance. Also brilliant to recognize YES, you can go to any repair shop to have service done on your car without voiding your warantee (just hang on to those receipts). Check your owners manual for the exact list of what needs to be done on your car. If you start the service a little early, and finish a little late, perhaps you can break up the necessary maintenance so the cost is not exceeding your budget.

The update on your investment can be costly but some items can be done by yourself or your mate to save some $$$. Make sure you save your receipts and document as this is part of your warranty, timely maintenance! Other items & service, can be trusted by your local ASKPATTY.COM or reputable repair facility in your area. Do make sure IF this is not an ASKPATTY.COM member, to check out their BBB rating and do your diligent homework.
Per the 30,000 service:
The service consists of:
- oil/filter change
- tire rotation
- replace coolant
- replace automatic trans fluid (complete flush, not just draining thepan)
- all inspections (drive belts, fuel lines/hoses, brake hoses/lines, brake linings/calipers/rotors/drums, exhaust, suspension, power steering pump/hoses, CV joints/boots, A/C, brake fluid, tires)
Also normally included in the 30K service is replacing the engine air filter and cabin air filters. I apologize if I*ve forgotten anything...
Much luck and Happy Motoring!
