How do I remove paint from my tires and wheel wells of my 2007 Murano? I was UNABLE to avoid 1 gal. of water-based paint in the road and fortunately had towels and water to remove the paint from the car but not the tires. By the time I got home to do so, it is not coming off.

Denise Koeth, Managing Editor at Tire Review Magazine You can use lemon juice & baking soda, which should remove the paint and won*t harm your tires. But be prepared to scrub! Completely wet each tire, then sprinkle baking soda over the areas with paint. Apply lemon juice over the baking soda. Use a heavy-duty nylon bristled brush to thoroughly scrub the areas. The paint should start to flake off. You can reapply as much soda/lemon as needed. If there are any remaining spots, spray a coating of vegetable oil and let it sit for a couple hours. It will break apart any paint residue that*s left. After 2 or 3 hours, spray with water and scrub one more time. Your tires should be paint-free!

Julie Scroggins, Vice President, CFO at Waukegan Tire and Supply Company Inc. Hi Diana, I would recommend that you take your vehicle to a reputable body shop and have them look at it. They would know what solvents would remove the paint without removing the finish from your wheels and/or harming your tires. Julie Scroggins
