I am changing the transmission filter,the transmission and muffler is blocking me from pulling the pan down.

If the muffler is in the way, that would have to be removed and replaced to get to where you are working.
I too have been in this situation many times.
Sometimes I think a job I am working on is going to be a cinch. Hours later, turns into more of a task than expected.

It*s a big job. You have to take the exhaust down. You may consider a total fluid exchange instead of the filter change . Otherwise unless you can do that you should take it to a certified technician.Contribute to this question:
