I am changing the transmission filter,the transmission and muffler is blocking me from pulling the pan down.

If the muffler is in the way, that would have to be removed and replaced to get to where you are working.
I too have been in this situation many times.

It*s a big job. You have to take the exhaust down. You may consider a total fluid exchange instead of the filter change . Otherwise unless you can do that you should take it to a certified technician.
