My vehicle stalls when I have the A/c on and eventually turns off? Why is that?

Answers from the Automotive Experts

Amanda J. Pierce, MBA Nancy, You can have your alternator tested and any auto parts store that offers to do so, and most are for free. You may have too much pre-load on your charging system this can be caused by a failing alternator.

Barb Petrey, President - DBK Enterprises Inc at Jiffy Lube The engine is being slowed down when the AC is on. You need to take it to a good mechanic

Laurie Sarno, Co-Owner at Super Girls Auto Hello Nancy- best guess is engine management system is not receiving input that the compressor is active- the other thing it may be is a bad AC compressor or blockage in the AC system- hope this helps- thanks Super Girls Auto.

Suzanne Grego, Technician at City of Philadelphia Fleet Management Nancy, The most probable cause would be that the compressor is seized. In this case, you would need to replace the compressor and probably a few other A/C parts. Suzanne
