Hi, my eclipse 08 13k miles - service display/warning came on, my husband did the tuneups and disconnect the battery terminal and the service warning still comes on. what should I do next?

Answers from the Automotive Experts

Amanda J. Pierce, MBA Farisa, Your vehicle should still fall under its original warranty from the manufacturer. "Tune-ups" should not yet be due on a vehicle with such low mileage. You should take your vehicle to the dealership and have them clear that codes, and to inform you of the maintenance plan suggested by Mitsubishi.

Laurie Sarno, Co-Owner at Super Girls Auto Hello Farisa- what you need to do is have the car scanned with a OBDII compatible tool ( they can do this at most Autozones for free) & then have the codes erased- disconnecting the battery will not erase codes on any vehicle built after 1995- hope this helps - Super Girls Auto.

Pat Fleischmann, Director of First Impressions at Community Tire Pros & Auto Repair Farisa.. With a fairly new car and low mileage, Your husband seems very handy to have around, but the equipment on newer cars really need a Professional touch! The Computer systems are sensitive and it could be more than the basic resetting...take it to your dealer as it*s still under warranty. Let them make sure it*s not an issue that could lead into something BIG! They have the diagnostic equip that will bring up the codes in minutes...could be just that simple! Better to be SAFE and back on the Road than to be wishing you*d done something sooner!

Suzanne Grego, Technician at City of Philadelphia Fleet Management Farisa, With only 13,000 miles, your vehicle should not need a tune up. This light could simply be a reminder to change the oil - in which case you will find how to turn the reminder off in your user guide. If, however, this is a warning light indicating something is wrong with the vehicle, I would suggest bringing it to the dealership to have a qualified professional look at it. If there is a problem, most likely it will still be covered under warranty. Suzanne
