What is the highest amount of mileage a 1999 Lexus GS300 can withstand without any engine problems?

Answers from the Automotive Experts

Amanda J. Pierce, MBA Ramelo, Most vehicles need a good tune-up by 100k miles. Timing belt should be replaced along with water pump, fuel service, spark plugs and wires, and a coolant and transmission flush.

Karen Davis, Service Manager at Smith Stokes Wow Ramelo thats a tough one. There are so many varibles that can affect the engine life on a vehicle including whether it was properly maintained, including oil and filter changes, coolant changes and temp regulation etc as well as how the driver drives the vehicle and in what conditions. Certainly well maintained engines are lasting much longer these days.

Lori Johnson, Owner and Instructor at Ladies Start Your Engines Dear Ramelo, This will depend on how well the vehicle has been maintained. I drive a 1988 Toyota truck with 283,000 miles on it. I have changed the oil every 3,000 miles and have never had any engine problems. No one can predict how long a vehicle will last, but keeping up on proper maintenance is the key to longevity. Lori Johnson
