I have a 1992 Chevy K1500 pickup. The joint at the tilt steering in the steering column is broken, I know I need to replace the steering column. What I am wondering is, will a steering column out of a 1989 Chevy pickup fit in my 1992?

Answers from the Automotive Experts

Amanda J. Pierce, MBA Kris, You can call your local salvage yard and they should have a program with most interchangeable parts to what you own. You can also check the dimensions of your *92 to the manufacturers dimensions on the *89 to check for compatibility.

Lori Johnson, Owner and Instructor at Ladies Start Your Engines Dear Kris, The best thing to do is to contact the parts department of a Chevy dealership. They should be able to tell you if those models had the same steering column.
