I have 255/70/15 tires on my truck and I was told that I can put 245/70/16 on as well, is that okay?

Answers from the Automotive Experts

Denise Koeth, Managing Editor at Tire Review Magazine The last 2 digits of a tire*s size - in this case the 15 or 16 you mentioned - is the rim diameter of the wheel on which the tire will fit. So the only way you can replace your 15-inch tires with 16-inch tires is if you are also replacing the 15-inch wheels with 16-inch wheels. It is unsafe to put a 16-inch tire on a 15-inch wheel, or a 15-inch tire on a 16-inch wheel, etc.
