How can your brake problem be in your head when the master cylinder had to be changed twice?
If the brake pedal is spongy or going to the floor then there is a safety issue and needs to be addressed right away.

It sounds like you may need to find another shop that will listen to your concerns. Many times people get frustrated with their vehicles because of the shop doing the work. That's not to say that sometimes certain vehicles just have a lot of problems, but having your concerns taken seriously can change your outlook on your vehicle.
Ask your friends if they know a shop you can trust. Take a technician for a ride so that they can see exactly what you're talking about. You can search on Ask Patty for a female friendly dealership near you or go to this site to find a shop with ASE certified technicians.
As for the 4WD, you need to decide if you want a truck, suv or sedan and then do your research. There are many good choices.
Hope this helps.
