I have a 1997 Jeep Wrangler (just a basic Wrangler; not an SE, Sport nor Sahara). The windshield fluid dispensers on the hood often get clogged/frozen in the winter. Is there a way to prevent this or fix it when it happens? I tried poking a pin into the holes of the two dispensers but that rarely works.

Answers from the Automotive Experts

Amy Mattinat, Owner and Author at Auto Craftsmen Ltd Hi Rene, Are you using the correct windshield washer fluid? The one that works in really cold weather? If the fluid is not the problem then you need to trace the lines to make sure they are not kinked anywhere. Also, maybe the end where the fluid comes out needs replacing.... No one can really help you figure out what is wrong without seeing the car in front of them. It*s imperative that you be able to see clearly out your windshield, so please don*t put this off, it could be a safety issue.

Amanda J. Pierce, MBA Rene, You may try to spray a de-icer solution of some sort to help the flow. You may be able to locate non-freezing washer fluid as well. AJ Pierce

Suzanne Grego, Technician at City of Philadelphia Fleet Management Rene, Make sure you are using pure washer fluid and not diluting it with water. Washer fluid has a lower freezing point than water. You may be able to find special washer fluid made for winter weather that is even more concentrated. Also, if there is snow or ice on your vehicle, pay special attention to the sprayers when cleaning the vehicle off. Suzanne
