I won a oil change and had that done and while there the repair tech. (owner of one man business)checked my car over. My Rav has 39K miles on it and I only put about 5K or less miles a yr. on it. It runs great and is nice car so I do want to keep it that way. I am a second owner,it only had 23k miles on it when I bought it in 2003. No problem and it had regular oil chgs and no service repairs. Back to my ques. The owner tech said I needed to have my transmission fluid drained and a new trans.filter because it wasn't as bright a color as it should be. Showed me new fluid and it was brighter color and said it should always look new. He could do this for $150. give or take. Then said I needed to have my fuel filter changed and it would be around the same amount. Would be about the same amount. Then said I would need new front brakes soon and he would check rotors then. Would be somewhere around the same amount. My brakes are not giving me that warning sound yet. Mostly I want to know the fact and fiction of these repairs. I would appreciate any advice you can give me. Thank you, June

Donna Burmeister, Service Manager at Classic Nissan Check your maintenance manual on recommended mileage for trans fluid, it's not abnormal to service your transmission. The fuel filter is also a maintenance required service. The technician is doing his job by making recommendations and then you can decide what you'd like to do.
