I have an oxygen concentrator that plugs into any cigarette or power outlet, but it keeps shutting off all the time. Is there something that limits the power coming out? The power outlets are fused at 20 amps.

Answers from the Automotive Experts

Lori Johnson, Owner and Instructor at Ladies Start Your Engines Dear Beverly, The power outlet puts out power all the time up to the 20 amps. If it feels that the device has a problem it's job is to protect the circuit. Usually there is some kind of power surge which blows the fuse instead of damaging the component. If your fuse is not blowing, then I would suggest that you have the oxygen concentrator looked at. Contact the company that makes it and see what they say about it shutting off. As long as the fuse is good, you should get constant power from the outlet. Lori Johnson www.ladiesstartyourengines.net
