My husband worked for GM for 47 years and the GM discount that is given to everyone at this time is very unfair to those that made GM what it is today. If they treat everyone the same then they are asking for everyone to go and buy foreign cars, if they want to run a special then it should not be an employee discount for everyone. If that is the way they want to do it they should give the GM employees an extra discount on along with the regular discount.we have been looking to purchase a new Chevrolet Impala, and when they tell me that this is a great time to buy, because they are giving everyone the GM discount and believe me, I'm not impressed and I tell them so. I'd like for the president to know how I felt and other employees feel about it. This is very unfair.
I totally understand your concerns. My father worked for GM for 30 years also. He is now going through the loss of his medical benefits through them.
I would suggest that you write a letter directly to GM to tell them of your concerns. Here is the address if you don't have it already.
