My car is making a noise while when I drive - not in idle. It is not high pitched. One repair shop said it was probably wheel bearings - does this sound logical?

Answers from the Automotive Experts

Amanda J. Pierce, MBA B. Belleau, Wheel bearing do fail and they are known to create a low or high pitched noise at times from the tire area. AJ Pierce

Donna Burmeister, Service Manager at Classic Nissan A wheel bearing will hum when your moving

Suzanne Grego, Technician at City of Philadelphia Fleet Management B. Belleau, Wheel bearings definitely do make noise when they go bad. You will only notice it when the car is in motion and the sound will most likely change as the speed changes. This is a safety issue, so I do recommend having it repaired soon. It never hurts to get a second opinion if you do not trust the first shop. Ask Patty also has a list of female friendly shops if you are having trouble finding a place you trust. Suzanne
