I own a 2000 Chevy Suburban 111000mi. The AC is not working. I tried recharging it myself with freon but it didn't work. The mechanic said to repair ac is $100. What are the costs for ac problems just so i know I'm not getting ripped off? thank u.

Answers from the Automotive Experts

Lori Johnson, Owner and Instructor at Ladies Start Your Engines Dear Maria, $100 is pretty cheap actually. Did they tell you what the problem was? Usually when you need to add refrigerant it means there is a leak somewhere. Sometimes fixing these leaks can become costly. There could be many reasons why your AC is not working and it may have nothing to do with low refrigerant. If you could be more specific about what you are having done for $100 I'd be able to offer better advice. Lori Johnson
