I have a 2003 Windstar with approx 68,000 miles. The car had been having an issue that every once in awhile when I started it (approx every 2 weeks), it would run very rough, and also it would seem to jump into gear at stops. so a couple months ago I went to have the 60,000 mile service, which was a bit too pricey so the mechanic recommended I get it done in parts. I have had the spark plugs changed, oil, fuel filter so far, plus I also had a broken engine mount replaced. It was running well for awhile, but the last couple days I have noticed it is running rough again, seems to idle higher than normal sometimes, especially when I am coming to a stop, it will idle higher, then jump a second before the complete stop. I know I still need to do the transmission flush, could this be causing a problem like this? Or are there other potential problems I need to look into?
I would recommend you bring your vehicle in specifically for this problem so that your technician can be made aware of the issue and properly diagnose it. A high idle could be a very simple fix, or it could be a little more complicated. It's hard to know what to tell you to look at without seeing the vehicle.
