Is there any way to install a crankshaft position sensor on an older transmission not equipped with one?

Answers from the Automotive Experts

Amanda J. Pierce, MBA Michelle, A crankshaft position sensor is not related to the transmission and is usually located on the engine block. It counts the number of revolutions per minute the engine is turning and relays that in a 12V conversion to the main computer. To my knowledge you cannot install a CPS on a vehicle originally not equipped with it. AJ Pierce
