I am looking at a mini cooper a couple of years old. What can you tell me about the run flat tires? Where would I even buy a new tire if I don't deal with a dealership? How much is each tire? Is it better to get all of the tires switched over to regular road tires, and if so, where would the spare tire go? Also, do they really get 30 mpg around town?

Lori Johnson, Owner and Instructor at Ladies Start Your Engines Dear Suzanne, Take a look at this site to find out more about flat run tires. Forbes has some good information about the mini: You can check tire rack for prices and they're pretty good about giving you information on tires for your vehicle. You can order tires from them, but you would still need someone to install them. Sometimes this can be a problem because most shops want to sell you the tires. You can switch the tires, but then you won't have a spare, something to think about. As for mileage, check out: Also know that a lot of what your gas mileage is will have to do with your driving habits and proper maintenance of the vehicle. The mpg's given by the manufacturer are usually done on flat surfaces at constant and consistant speeds. Unfortunately, not everyone drives this way. Good luck. Lori Johnson
