The oil dipstick has broken off into the oil pan. Is there a reason why it has to come out? I have a new one..can I just put it on?
If it has to come out..is there a way I can get it out myself?
Thanks!

Beverly,
The only way I would suggest that you may be able to get the broken off oil dipstick out yourself, is if you can see it. The you can reach in with needle nose pliers and pull it out.
If you can
Beverly,
The dipstick does need to come out. It may prohibit proper oil pick up from the oil pump in the pan. You can drain the oil and drop the oil pan to retrieve the broken dip stick. Make sure to install a new oil pan gasket to prevent leakage.
