Answers from the Automotive Experts

Michelle Wingard, Automotive Expert at, Inc. How long does it take for your vehicle to overheat? Do you notice any white smoke coming from your tailpipe, or smell any coolant (it

Suzanne Grego, Technician at City of Philadelphia Fleet Management Erika, If you just recently replaced the thermostat, make sure you have enough coolant/water mixture in the system. It should be a 50/50 mixture. Check the level when the vehicle is cold. Opening a coolant system when the car is hot can be very dangerous! Also, check to see if your cooling fan is coming on. If the fan is not coming on, I would have to suggest that you take the vehicle to your technician so that he or she can diagnose the problem correctly. Suzanne
