You need to look in your owner's manual in the maintenance section to find out the interval for changing oil. Many vehicles are 7,500 miles or more between oil changes.
I do mine every 3,000 miles, but I drive a 1988 and that is what was recommended then. You can always change it more frequently, it just costs you more money, but you don't want to let it go over the recommended requirements.
If you don't have the owner's manual then call the service department of the dealership and ask.
