The ignition switch needs replaced and my repair book says it is impossible for a home mechanic to fix because of the tilt steering wheel. I would need a steering wheel puller. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated!

Answers from the Automotive Experts

Amy Mattinat, Owner and Author at Auto Craftsmen Ltd Dear Aaron, You need special tools, specialized knowledge and years of experience to tackle this job. I suggest you take it to a Certified Mechanic. If it is done incorrectly it could cost you A LOT of money and could cause an accident. All My Best, Amy Mattinat

Suzanne Grego, Technician at City of Philadelphia Fleet Management Aaron, If you need to pull your steering wheel off, I would highly recommend you let a professional do it. Almost all steering wheels now have airbags in them and you do not want to accidentally have your air bag go off. Although I do commend you for the effort for doing your own repairs, some things you just shouldn*t do without proper training. Suzanne
