i just got an oil change and my tires rotated on my 95 Saturn SL2. They told me that i had an "upper mount" collapse?? it supposedly connects my dashboard to my engine or something, and its the reason my dashboards been rattling. They are asking $187 to fix it and im wondering if it is worth it, if i could go somewhere cheaper, and what exactly it would damage if i were to not fix it?
Thanks So Much!
It sounds like this may be a bracket that mounts the dashboard to the firewall. If this is the case you probably won't be able to have someone else do it because you'll probably need manufaturer specific part.
Without seeing it I would say that you should ask them what damage could be caused if you didn't fix it. If it's just an issue of noise and you're all right with that, then you could forgo the repair. But make sure that leaving this problem won't create more of them.
I'm also now sure how you could break this. You might want to ask this as well so you know if it's worth replacing. Good Luck.
