My 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee shakes or \"shimmys\" up and down, when I am braking. This happens especially as I am slowing from a high-speed (freeway driving). I only have about 27,000 miles on my Jeep - could I already need new brakes?

Answers from the Automotive Experts

Amy Mattinat, Owner and Author at Auto Craftsmen Ltd Hi Erika, I have had a couple of clients who seem to need new brakes every year at approx. 15,000 miles. One lives at the top of a very large hill and has an automatic transmission, and the other admits to being a tailgater and slams on the brakes way to much. I'm not saying that your problem is definitely brakes, but you don't want it to be shimming up and down when braking, so, I highly recommend you take your Jeep to the shop to have them diagnose the problem. All My Best, Amy Mattinat
