I have a 2001 Saturn SL1. I have had a problem where I put my key in the ignition and it won*t turn. I lock up the steering wheel and I still have to jiggle and shake the steering to get the key to turn to turn on the car. I have no problem turning off and pulling out the key, just turning the key to start the car. What do you think the problem could be because its getting worse and I dont want to be stranded.
Thank you,
Megan

Dear Megan,
It sounds like your steering wheel is turned when you park. The steering wheel has a mechanism that locks once you remove the key and try to turn the wheel.
While this is a great anti-theft prevention, it can sometimes make it hard to turn the key when you insert it. You may notice that you have to move the steering wheel back and forth while turning the key to get the key to turn, this is normal.
When you park the vehicle try and make sure that the wheels are pointing straight ahead. If the wheels are turned the steering wheel will automatically lock from the pressure of the turned wheels and make it harder for you to turn the key in the ignition.
Take a look in your owner's manual, it should tell you about the locking of the steering wheel. Hope this helps.
