have a 1989 4dr automatic honda civic, runs excellent but really need a wagon for next evacuation(2dogs,2cats)friend has 1988 volvo 240DL wagon about the same milage 140,000,she wants $1800 what do you think?also taking into consideration future prices on repair.was poor before katrina even more poor now and my trusted mechanic was washed away.feeling lost.volvo sounds and runs good from what i can tell.
Volvo’s do have the reputation for going the long haul in mileage. So,
140,000 miles does not scare me. But…The only way to find out if this Volvo is
worthy of $1800 and will be safe and reliable is to take it to a professional
mechanic to have them do a Used Car Inspection on it. You just can’t tell if an
automobile is in good shape by looking at it. I’ve seen inexpensive cars that
would make a great car to own, and I’ve seen very expensive cars that I tell my
customers to RUN from, and everything in-between.
Since your trusted mechanic is no longer working close to you, ask around to
find another trusted mechanic that you can take the Volvo to for it’s Used Car
Best of Luck,
