I drive a 1998 Grand Prix-110,000 miles....lately the RPM meter has been jumping and my car feels like its tugging-I am so afraid this will cost alot to fix-I am a single mother and need to get my little boy around safely! What is my least expensive choice to fix this (if there is one)
Thank you for your time!
If the vehicle is running rough there could be a couple of problems. When was the last time you had the vehicle tuned up?
There could also be a fuel problem. If an injector is clogged or there is a problem with the fuel pump not getting gas up to the engine, these could be problems as well.
It could also be something simple as the throttle plate sticking in the intake. That can be cleaned pretty easily. With this problem you would probably feel the pedal sticking occasionally.
The best thing to do is to take it in and have it diagnosed by a certified shop, then you'll be able to make an informed decision. Good Luck.
