Where is the EGR valve on my 2001 Saturn SL1, and how do I change it?

Answers from the Automotive Experts

Amy Mattinat, Owner and Author at Auto Craftsmen Ltd Sabrina, The EGR valve on a Saturn SL1 is buried in the back of the motor. I highly recommend you take it to a trained Saturn specialist to have it changed. Best of Luck, Amy Mattinat

Lori Johnson, Owner and Instructor at Ladies Start Your Engines Dear Sabrina, It's located on the right rear of the cylinder head. You will probably have to remove a hose and possibly some screws. Here's a picture of what it looks like. You should only be replacing this item if a technician has told you that it's faulty, otherwise this may not solve your problems. Lori

Patty Streeter, at Sabrina, The EGR valve is located on the back of the cylinder head, tor replace remove the 2 securing bolts and replace valve, also replace the EGR gasket at the ame time to prevent leaks
