I had a muffler put on my 88 toyota crx.It killed my gas mileage(drastically).it\'s been rechecked for improper pipes and parts...none were found. All sizes correct. In lew of taking it back off...what can I do?

Lori Johnson, Owner and Instructor at Ladies Start Your Engines Dear Christi, Did you mean Honda CRX? If you put the recommended mufffler on the vehicle I don't see why it would be causing a problem. What I would have checked is the O2 (oxygen) sensor. Maybe is got bumped or broken when the muffler was installed. If it's not reading right it would tell the engine to use more gas than necessary. This would be the first thing I would check. You will have to take it to the dealership or an ASE certified shop that has good knowledge of how to check this sensor. Hope this helps. Lori Johnson
