My car is leaking transmission fluid-1999 Ford Escort. I put in Lucas, that seemed to help, but I might have to take out the engine and have the mechanics replace the seal. Do you think I should attempt that, or should I wait and see if Lucas works? Thank you. Sharon
Answers from the Automotive Experts
Dear Sharon,
My experience has been that additives for "fixes" are only a way to extend your time a little until you can get the real problem fixed. You need to find out what the real problem is and why it's leaking, then I would weigh out the options of whether you think it's worth fixing.
Many times these additives only create more problems.
