Patty, Have Ford f250. My husband ran out of diesel and after 20 minutes of trying to start - Nothing. We have charged the batteries and still nothing. All electrical works - can you ruin a starter doing this? Carol

Answers from the Automotive Experts

Lori Johnson, Owner and Instructor at Ladies Start Your Engines Dear Carol, When a diesel vehicle runs out of gas, air gets trapped in the fuel lines. You will need to have the vehicle towed to a dealership so that they can bleed the fuel lines to remove the air. I'm sure somewhere in your owners manual it tells you not to run this vehicle out of gas, in the case of diesel engines, this is especially true. Hope this helps. Lori Johnson
