It depends on where you live. Different areas of the country vary when it comes to cost. But all that aside, the best thing you can do to make sure you get a great deal is to do your research. The more you know, the more likely you are to get the price you want.
Do you research for dealers that have the vehicle in stock near you. Check out the page on Ask Patty where you can look through all kinds of available vehicles by make and model: http://www.askpatty.com/chrome.php
Again, do as much research to know what the costs are and the average price and know your budget. If you come into the dealership armed with knowledge, it is easier to move the negotiations in the direction you want.
Hybrids are sold at a premium unfortunately, because the demand is high and the inventory is low. Find a dealer with HIGH inventory of hybrids and try going at the end of the month when they are trying to move more cars out to make room for new inventory.
