Amy Mattinat, Owner and Author at Auto Craftsmen Ltd Hi Pat, has a video and instruction on the web at and if you go to You can get some great information there about battery care and maintenance. All My Best, Amy Mattinat

Jenny Trostel, Partner at Anderson of Hunt Valley The battery terminals should be clean. You can coat them with a little vasiline to stop corrosion. Driving the car will keep the battery working well becuase the alternator will keep it charged. Most batteries are maintenance free however some have covers and the fluid can be topped off with distilled water. A battery will last 3-5 years depending on where you live and how much driving you do and how much electronics you have on the car. A proper jump start will not damage the battery. Some newer vehicles can have damage done to the electronics if not jumped properly. Good Luck!
