Hi Patty. I'm seriously considering buying a 2000 VW Beetle and i'd like to know if you know what the average life i.e. how many miles they go and what defects they have. I've been told their expensive to keep up and that could be a problem. Help! Would this be a good purchase for me! The seller has had nothing but good things with it. Thanks!
THe most important thing is to know about that vehicle's history. You should always look up the Carfax report on the vehicle (www.carfax.com). It will tell you any of the car's history, including repairs and collisions. Also, do some research on the make and model and read what other owners think of the car at www.epinions.com. On Epinions, people rate products (and cars) based on their own experiences with upkeep costs, etc.
Here are some other links I found with helpful reviews:
Make sure you do lots of research on that car and make sure all of the manufacturer's scheduled maintenance was done. When an owner takes great care of the car, it will be a much better deal. Make sure to ask for proof of the maintenance or repairs done as well.
