I own a Nissan Altima 2001, my brakes do not hold very well when I am reverse parking in a space, they appear to grip and let loose and bumping into the car behind me, my mechanic told me its the master cylinder that the cause, can you please tell me is the reason, I recently had changed the brake linings on all four wheels, since then this problem has occurred and no answer as to why this should be the reason for worn brake linings.
Many thanks if you can give me you opinion here.
Since you just replaced your brake pads, worn brake linings should not be the problem. It could be the master cylinder or possibly air in the lines. When they replaced the pads did you notice the problem right away? If so I would take it bake and have them bleed the brake system.
It's interesting that they didn't find the master cylinder problem when you had it in for the brake job. If you don't feel comfortable with their answer, get a second opinion.
