I own a 2003 Honda Odyssey 5 dr EX with 42,000 miles. I would like to trade it in for a new car. I want to know how much it is worth as a trade in before I go to a dealer. I had a minor accident but had it completely repaired. It is in very good condition except for some minor scratches on the outside. I was given one quote of 8500 by a dealer and was disappointed by that. How do I know what is fair?
The best way to find out what your car is worth is to look it up on Kelley Bloue Book (www.kbb.com). Since prices/values vary around the country, I used a random zip when I looked this info up for you... make sure you use your zip code and put in all the options when you check.
Because I can't see your car, I can't tell you if his quote is fair or not. The best thing to do is to look it up and be armed with a number. Remember that a lot of dealers will only give you a trade-in value listed at "fair" instead of good or excellent.
Based on the basic info you gave me, it looks like the value could be somewhere around $13500. Also remember that trade-in value is always lower than private party value.
Check it out and even try taking it to a different dealer to get multiple quotes and go with waht makes you comfortable.
