hi, my daughter has just bought a vw beetle 2001 and we want to prepare the radiator for winter by putting antifreeze in it, do you have a diagram or print out of the radiator so we know what to do, thanks.
I recommend that you take it to a shop to make sure you get the right "stuff" put in your radiator. You don't want to put in straight antifreeze, you need to mix it with water. Depending on where you live, and what the vehicle calls for, you want to make sure you get the correct type of antifreeze!
Don't do anything until your certain of what your doing. You could cause damage to the vehicle.

You can't actually add antifreeze to the radiator, you must add it through the overflow bottle. My first question would be why you want to do this for winter?
The antifreeze should always be a 50/50 mix of coolant and water. For VW you MUST buy the coolant from the manufacturer - I believe it's red.
Check your owners manual to see when scheduled maintenance is due for changing the fluid, it's usually about every 30,000 miles or so.
As long as you've been maintaining your vehicle there should be no need to do anything different just because it's winter. If you haven't had it changed, then you should take it to a service station to have this service done.
