Will rain/snow getting under a slightly buckled hood cause problems?

Answers from the Automotive Experts

Lori Johnson, Owner and Instructor at Ladies Start Your Engines Dear Jill, The engine should not really get wet. You should probably get the hood fixed so that it doesn't create problems. As long as water isn't raining down on the engine you will probably be fine for a little bit. Problems occur when things like a distributor cap or alternator gets wet. This could cause problems with how the car runs. It really depends on how much water can get on the engine. I would get the hood repaired as soon as you are able, but you should still be able to drive the vehicle if there isn't a lot of exposure to the engine.
