I live in sunny Florida and my black 2000 Escort Zx2 has serious fading on the roof and front hood. Are there any products which helps restore the fading to it original black color or is painting the car my only option. Thank youl
you would need to have a detailer or body shop tech look at your paint (dealership, carwash). Detailing or products may fix but you may need to repaint. They would be able to give you choices after looking at the condition of your car. Then you can make the best choice for you.

If your planning on keeping this car for 3 or more years, I would think about getting it painted, and them finding a place to park it under cover.

Sounds like you have an oxidation issue, if it is
Light Oxidation - regular paint cleaning and polishing will correct this condition
Moderate Oxidation - can be repaired, but will likely require a cutting polish such as SONUS SFX-1 RESTORE
Severe Oxidation - [completely dull / chalky] is most likely beyond complete restoration, however it can be polished to a shine.
Please note: If it is clearcoat damage - you will need a new paint job!
My personal thoughts....if you can afford to get a new paint job, get it! Then find yourself a sweet little auto detail shop there in sunny florida for regular paint cleaning and polishing, this will keep your auto showroom FAB!

Sadly your only option might be to repaint the hood and the roof. This is why a good coat of wax needs to be applied at least once a month. Avoid the silicone based waxes and go with a good paste wax the type the requires - wax on - wax off.
