The service agent at my dealership says that the only way to deal with blacked out lighting on the display for the radio in my 2002 Sunfire is to replace the whole unit. That might cost as much as $700, he says, which I cannot justify for a 7-year old vehicle.

My service engine light came on @ 86,000 miles on my ford escort zx (1998). Seems like every time I bring it into the shop for a little thing (oil change, tires, etc) something goes wrong the next week...do repair shops do that to keep your business- especially being a female I feel raped by them!
