Owner of Valencia Acura in Valencia, California
Cheri Fleming, known as one of the hardest working, most affable and effervescent young women in the Santa Clarita Valley, was born and raised in Parma Heights, Ohio. After graduating from Ohio University, she moved to Southern California.
After owning and managing several car dealerships in the late '80s and early '90s, Cheri and Don Fleming purchased Valencia Acura in 1997. At that time, this Valencia Acura dealership ranked "dead last" among national Acura dealers, both in sales and customer satisfaction. With no place to go but up, Cheri and Don began turning the dealership around.
Today, customer satisfaction is a way of life at Valencia Acura. CSI scores are well-above the national average for the dealership. What's more, over 75% of Valencia Acura's business is repeat and referral. Fleming's small, personal touches show a determined focus on the overall customer experience. Valencia Acura prides itself on the level of customer service it provides.
In her short tenure as a dealer, Fleming has won many accolades from Acura and CSI awards from 2001-2005, including: Acura's Precision Team (2002-2004), Honda's Council of Excellence (2004-2005), "Best New Car Dealership in Santa Clarita" (2003-2005), "Most Community Minded Owners in Santa Clarita" (2003-2005) and Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce "Business of the Year" in the medium-sized category (2001).
Fleming's passion for community involvement and commitment to excellence at her dealership earned her AIADA's 2006 Dealer of the Year Award, presented by Newsweek. Fleming was presented with the award by Patrick Hagerty, Publisher of Newsweek, at AIADA's Dealer of the Year Awards Ceremony at the J.W. Mariott Hotel in Washington, D.C.
"Being a car dealer affords me the opportunity to be involved in so many wonderful causes, and to truly make a difference in our community."
Currently, Cheri is the Vice President At-Large and a Director for the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Health Foundation, Governor-Elect for the Soroptimist International Camino Real Region, member and Past-President of the Soroptimist International of Santa Clarita Valley, Vice President of Special Events and a Director for the Child and Family Center Foundation, a Director for The Roar Foundation Advisory Board, Chair-Elect and a Director for the American Cancer Society Unit Council and Los Angeles Regional Unit Council, Vice President of the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center Advisory Board, Co-Chair of the Boys & Girls Club Auction (2004-2006), and Chair of the Arthritis Foundation Walk.
Cheri's donations in excess of $2.5 million have contributed positively towards various community organizations, including: United Way, American Red Cross, American Heart Association, The Cowboy Music & Poetry Festival, Master's College, Hart High, Valencia High, Saugus High, Canyon High and other local schools. In recognition of her work with local area schools, she has been named PTA Partner by the Santa Clarita Valley School District for the past three years. This June, Cheri will make good on a capital investment of $100,000 to help build a cardiac-cath lab and new Emergency Room at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.

Cherie Watters is the General Manager at LAX Hyundai Los Angeles, CA. a member of the Denny Hecker Auto Group.
She has been in the automotive business since 1983. From the very beginning, when she started in the auto business she knew it was something she loved and she wanted to become an automobile dealer. Cherie knew there would be many obstacles moving forward in this very male dominated Industry but with a smile on her face she has accepted the Challenge.
Cherie graduated with a degree in Finance and began an automotive career in the accounting department. She was a Controller for a very large dealer group for a number of years and gained a lot of experience in that position. However: she made it a point to work in every department of the dealership so that she would have a complete understanding of how things worked everywhere. Not just talking with people in different departments, but actually working day to day in those departments. That experience really helped in understanding the challenges employees face every day. The more she could make the employees jobs easier and less complicated the better they could service the customers.
Cherie was lucky to be trained by some really wonderful mentors in this business and has made it a point to attend automotive seminars and workshops continually.
Cherie is a big believer in honestly and integrity and wants to have customers feel good about the purchase experience they have any time they deal with her or her staff. She wants women to feel welcome and un-intimidated when they walk into the store, whether it's for an automobile sale or to purchase service or parts.
Her philosophy is if you make people happy, take care of their needs and listen, they will keep coming back.
