Lelahseddigh

Behind the wheel of a race car, Iranian driver Laleh Seddigh has to put up with all kinds of verbal abuse from her male counterparts. But that's not stopping her from becoming a national phenomenon.

Nicknamed "Little Schumacher" Seddigh is trying to rise above her countries archaic ways. "Resistance from men does not bother me," Seddigh said."Once I get on the track I like to use my technical skills, take control and dominate the other drivers."

Congratulations to Trish Dover for finishing fourth in the Knoxville Mid-States 305 Sprint Championships last weekend. Dover was the only female competitor in the field. "It had been almost four weeks since I’ve raced and it was great getting back in action at Knoxville,"  Dover said. "In the two 305 races I ran we were very competitive and racing with the 360s I feel has really improved my reaction time."

Lennae_tander

Kumho Tyres Australian Formula 3 Championship points leader Leanne Tander has been nominated for the 2007 CAMS Motorsport Personality of the year award. Tander is one of 11 drivers, from most major championships in Australia, to be nominated for the annual award that is voted on by fans via the CAMS website.

Arin_mcintosh

Arin McIntosh traded in her racing helmet for a tiara last week when she won the title of 2007 Persimmon Festival Queen. An accomplished sprint car racer, the 18-year-old McIntosh can now add beauty queen to her list of undertakings.

“I am very excited, and very surprised,” McIntosh said seconds after walking off the Main Street stage. “This is very different. I am not used to wearing a fancy dress.”

Erin

Gillett Evernham Motorsports is proud to announce that Mac Tools will again be the primary sponsor of the No. 98 Mac Tools Dodge driven by Erin Crocker in the ARCA RE/MAX Series race at Talladega Superspeedway this weekend.

"I’m really looking forward to getting back behind the wheel of the Mac Tools Dodge Charger," explained Crocker. "We have had a lot of success with Mac Tools on board so I’m optimistic heading into Talladega this weekend. At the beginning of the season we were able to start on the pole at Daytona and with the superspeedway cars that Gillett Evernham Motorsports is capable of producing and with the support of our friends at Mac Tools, I know our chances of getting a top five finish and quite possibly our first win are high."

Peggy This week the Richmond Times-Dispatch explores the differences among the performance of women in auto racing's top divisions. Winning is what makes the difference and the ladies of the NHRA are the leaders in the world of racing. They eclipse the much hyped Danica Patrick handful of women competing in NASCAR.

"Being a woman brings you a certain notoriety, but when you get past that, it's about winning races," NHRA driver Peggy Llewellyn said. "When you put the helmet on, no one knows you are woman. When you competing at this level, it's not a hobby. It's about winning."
