Great Gifts for Car Guys from the Busted Knuckle Garage

Published Jul 9th 2008, 2:52pm by

BustedknucklegarageDad already got grease on the tie you gave him for Father's Day? If he'd rather spend time in the garage than at the Nordstrom haute couture department, check out the Busted Knuckle Garage for some unique gifts for "wrench-twisting car guys, bikers, and wannabe's." Best known for their line of herbal skin care products, close to 65% of their web customers are ladies buying for their father, hubby, boyfriend, son, or brother.

The company's founder, Warren Tracy, says he established the Busted Knuckle Garage "for no other reason than to help us all celebrate the fun we have tinkering, puttering, and playing around with our favorite car, truck, or motorcycle." His motto is "Repair and despair under one roof" because -- as anybody who works on their own car knows -- a busted knuckle or two just comes along with the territory. It's a growing company, and Warren promises their products are all about quality and fun.

Skincarecollage The company's signature herbal skincare products lists a variety of items, including Mechanic's Hand Salve, Mechanic's Muscle Easing Salve, Mechanic's Skin Moisturizer, Mechanic's Hand Salve/Lip Balm, Mechanic's Hand Cleaner, and Mechanic's Sun Block "Lube in a Tube" - all affordably priced from just a couple bucks for littlest containers of lip balm/salve to $11 for a jug of skin moisturizer. The Muscle Easing Salve ($6.95) promises to work fast and effectively on muscle aches, joints, and tension, and claims to help heal sprains, bruising, and swelling. Rubbed on temples and the back of the neck for headaches, this salve claims to stimulate circulation and healing.

I'm not an herbal expert, but the ingredients list looks delicious: Organic Arnica Oil, Olive Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Organic Bee's Wax, Cocoa Butter, Vitamin E Oil, Camphor, Essential Oils of Wintergreen, Ginger, clove, and a variety of Mints and Cayenne. Mmmmmmm.

Handcleaner Their Mechanic's Hand Cleaner ($6.29 for 15 ounces, or three bottles for $15) features polyethylene scrubbers that are round and smooth unlike the jagged edges of pumice or sand found in other products. As a result, the cleansing process is much safer and gentler while still promising excellent results for scrubbing away the grease and grime that comes along with wrenching on those dirty engine parts.

In addition to the skin care stuff, the friendly website also offers a broad assortment of cool, retro-styled gifts and collectibles; tee shirts, hoodies and caps; personalized items like garage floor mats and signs; and a variety of car care items by Adams Polishes.

If your guy spends a lot of time wrenching on his car or motorcycle, or just bench racing with his buddies, their cool swivel stools offer a great place to "park it" while working hard, or hardly working.

Fingermagnet They've even got an entire section of gifts under $10, including restoration and collectible books, mugs, magnets, and a fun "Busted Knuckle Garage" light switch plate. My favorite items? A cool magnetic finger sleeve that allows him to hold and retrieve any small metal object with fingertip control, it's perfect to help start a little fasteners in tight-fitting or difficult-to-reach places.

HotsauceOr how about their "Boil Over Hot Sauce"! With a blast of Serrano chili and lime, a wave of garlic, and a strong red Habanero afterburn, this spicy sauce sounds like it would be extra yummy on just about anything from eggs to steak--or even a steak salad!

All their gear features their fun "Busted Knuckle Garage" logo, from their novelty wrenches to a brightly colored office racing chair right up to a gorgeously colorful neon sign.

Check them out, you never know what you might find! They'll be premiering a women's line very soon and also offer some children's clothing (cute little denim coveralls!) as well. They offer free shipping on orders over $100; so be sure to let them know Patty sent you!
