Firestone Complete Auto Care Partners with Girl Scouts to teach them how to be safe drivers when they’re out delivering those cookies.
Not sure whether you’ve still got any cookies left, as the official sale date was months ago, but as I sit here dipping frozen Thin Mints into a glass of milk, I want to share some additional information about another Girl Scout program more relevant to our subject matter.
Girl Scouts of the USA is involved in a partnership with Firestone’s Complete Auto Care, which has lead to the development of “On the Road,” a program that encourages girls to be competent, smart and safe drivers.
"On the Road" provides teenage girls, 14-17, with innovative hands-on activities to learn about automotive safety and maintenance, smart driving, and women's careers in the automotive industry (who knows, maybe some of them will grow up to be Ask Patty bloggers?). In 2007, the program's reach will have a direct impact on girls in more than 40 councils nationwide through its grants and Car Care Academies facilitated by Trisha Hessinger, automotive education specialist and professional driver. The program also reaches girls around the globe using original resources including the "On the Road" focus book, online games and e-cards, and appearances at girl-focused trade shows and events.
Firestone Complete Auto Care's investment has been leveraged by matching funds from the Department of Labor to create automotive industry internship opportunities. This dynamic duo and their efforts support GSUSA's continuous mission to build girls of courage, confidence, and character. Firestone Complete Auto Care was also an official Diamond Sponsor of Girl Scouts 95th Anniversary festivities which took place in June 2007.
The Firestone Complete Auto Care website is designed to meet consumers' automotive maintenance, repair, and tire needs in a convenient one-stop web shop. To find a store, or schedule an appointment for maintenance or repair visit www.FirestoneCompleteAutoCare.com
