The strongest handbag, ever

Oh look! They make diaperbags, too!

Husband and wife Dana and Melanie Harvey are the creators of the Harveys Original Seatbelt Bag. The bags came into existence as part of a car renovation project. I love someone who has left over seatbelting (seatbelt material, length of seatbelt??) and says, "HEY! I know, I'm making a purse out of this!"

The bags are lined with flight satin, the same stuff the Air Force uses to make flight jackets, and they are made of "100% Seatbelt" which the Harveys claim can hold up to 5,000 pounds. (This may be the only purse I'll ever need again!) They even use thread that is approved for use by NASA.

What you see in the photo at right is a special edition MADD bag. For each one of these sold, Harveys will donate $25 to MADD.

Thanks to Patty, of Ask Patty - Automotive Advice for Women for blogging about this accessory that lets you look cute and do some good.
