BlogHer's annual conference
is like no other -- it is the thrilling diversity of the blogosphere
come to life! Thousands of women Bloggers have assembled in San
Francisco to experience technical labs, educational workshops, intense
discussion sessions, relevant sponsors, speakers from every corner of
the blogosphere, and plenty of opportunities to network and socialize.
And in Second Life, hundreds of other women are enjoying a virtual version of the conference, featuring both live streaming of the BlogHer 2008 keynotes, and exclusive in-world programming by, for, and about Second Lifers.
While BlogHers are enjoying the conference in real life at the Westin Hotel in San Francisco, Second Lifers are experiencing their own virtual version at the United Spinal Motorability Island with our own seminars focused on such subjects as Dating in Second Life, The Intersection of Blogging and Second Life, Online Security in Second Life (with our own Jody DeVere on the panel as Patty Streeter inworld, pictured to the right), panel discussions on using Second Life as an Educational/Training Tool, and using Second Life for Good in the real world.
Also, while real-life BlogHers are socializing at the many cocktail and
dinner events, Second Life BlogHers have had plenty of chances to hang
out inworld! Many thanks to Callie Cline’s Beach Resort which has sponsored several social events with dancing and music, the Motorability Fairgrounds Speedway which sponsored racing events, and the BlogHer Vendor Area .
These inworld events have been full of typical Second-Life antics, including one attendee who had to dance with a box stuck on her head (you had to be there) and even a visit from some lame griefer who was immediately booted from the fun. Activities in these locations will continue throughout Saturday and into the evening, so it’s not too late to stop by and participate inworld.
Plenty of inworld BlogHers are posting and tweeting about their experiences, and CNN iReport has got a page here focused on sharing all their reports. Please stop in and check it out to read what all the participants are saying.
