AskPatty at HoumaToday: "Web site aims advice at female drivers"
Winter driving presents dangers for everybody, but since women tend to be multitaskers, it can be especially difficult for them. "In my driving experience, there are more times when I see women with a carload of children talking on cell phones," said Jody Devere, president of AskPatty.com, a Web site aimed at informing women drivers. She's not picking on women. She said it's just more likely for women to be running a dozen errands, tending to kids and navigating a vehicle.

Jody DeVere at the Dealer Business Journal: "Women Car Buyers Savvy Shoppers"
The advent of the Internet has enabled women to find the resources and information they need to take charge of their own finances and buying decisions, and give voice to their needs and preferences.  With this rising tide of the economic power of women, car dealerships and automotive retailers need to devote time, resources and budget to gain a larger share of this huge market. By 2010, women are expected to control $1 trillion, or 60 percent of the country's wealth, according to research conducted by BusinessWeek and Gallup.

AskPatty at SoCalMom.net: "Freedom to Marry Carnival: Something Borrowed, Something Blue"
I'm participating in Robin's second annual Freedom to Marry Week Freedom to Marry Carnival. So far, I've posted about Something Old and Something New. But I was in dental hell most of Wednesday and didn't get around to writing about the next item in the old poem. So today, I give you both. Something Borrowed is the fabulous Ford Flex crossover vehicle I was lent for our gymnastics road trip to Las Vegas last week. (Speaking of car reviews: My series has been picked up by Ask Patty, the automotive site for women by women auto industry professionals. This is one of my favorite resources when shopping for a new car, so I'm really excited to be included there.)

AskPatty at TheAutoWriter: "Chicago, Raleigh Auto Shows Open"
Last month, on the Ask Patty blog, a question was asked readers regarding auto shows and whether they should be abandoned. I responded by saying that auto shows are still relevant, especially to the consumer, but only if the automakers and show designers were to keep up with the latest trends.

AskPatty at SoCalMom.net: "Desperately Seeking Fun"
I'm really getting tired of all the doom and gloom I've been feeling the last couple of weeks. I'm grateful that my husband - the eternal optimist - took a vacation week so he could spend time with his mum as we prep for the Bat Mitzvah. I need him to talk me down. So I'm trying to focus my energy (as much as possible) on the positive things going on in my life... Like the fact that my auto reviews are now being re-posted over at AskPatty.com (the automotive site for women, produced by women). I've been told my take on the Ford Flex is being published there today.

Jody DeVere at Wisconsin Post Crescent: "Fox Valley car dealers' inventories idle a bit longer"
Drive past any Fox Valley auto dealership and it's impossible to not notice the shiny new cars lingering around a little longer than normal. Today, U.S. dealers on average are sitting on a backlog of five months of inventory. Historically, new cars stay on lots for between 60 and 90 days, according to the manufacturers, though the recession has drastically changed that timeframe. "It is a buyer's market and a great time to buy a new car," said Jody DeVere, chief executive officer of AskPatty.com, a California-based Web site that targets car-buying advice to women. "Many factory incentives and financing incentives are being offered to help dealerships who are desperate to move inventory."

AskPatty at The Economy Stinks: "DIY mentality on the rise because of the economy"
More people are grooming their own dogs, mending their own clothing and planning their own gardens, according to a Washington Post article that says that marketers and businesses have given a new name to this DIY mentality: "They call it 'insourcing': doing yourself what you once gladly paid others to do for you.
