I have a 2005 Chevolet Impala and I just had to take it to the dealer to get it reprogrammed and now it won't shift out of 2nd gear unless it's freezing cold or have not been cranked for a week or two, and every light stays on on my dash. what could be the reason it's not shifting out

Answers from the Automotive Experts

Helaine Kurot, Owner/Technician at 360 Automotive It is possible something got corrupted during the software update. It is also entirely possible that something else is going on with the vehicle. I recommend contacting the dealer and letting them know the situation you are currently having. If you had the vehicle diagnosed and reprogrammed by the dealer, they should be willing to work with you to get this figured out, or at a minimum telling you what is potentially wrong and what your options are. If the vehicle was dropped off and the technician was told to just reprogram the vehicle without any other information or diagnoses performed, they most likely will charge for looking at it.
